Joe’s posts:

This is really tough

This has been an amazing experience!  It has also been really tough.

I have incredible respect for the contestants that are dominating in this experience because it has been really hard for me.  Even though I keep losing inches and grow stronger, I seem to have plateaued on the scale.  I now know what it feels like to work so hard and stay at the same weight.

God is bigger than any challenge we face.  This week does not define my journey, my daily steps and faith in God do.  I know that I am only beginning my journey to lose weight and this summer will provide another 90 days to make as much progress as possible.

I thank God every day for the incredible opportunity to actually do something to make a difference.

If you want to join the battle to fight fat and live another day, come hang out with us this weekend.

I’d love to meet you and introduce you to several people who are winning the battle every day.

A series inspired by the biggest loser

I have been so inspired by the life change and the heroes of the biggest loser that we are starting a new series on Easter that will last for 28 days.  It takes 28 days to start a new habit and to break the old.  We will look at what it takes to break out of old habits, hang ups, and addictions and start a new life of breakthroughs!  If you want to break out of the chains in your life, then we will see you this Sunday at 9:30 or 11 AM for the new series at our church!

Had fun at the interview

Today we did an interview at KSN and we had a blast!  The news team is really fun and we had a good time during the interview.  I can’t wait to see the upcoming interviews of the other team members!

Hey, If anyone s looking for an Easter Egg Hunt that will be a blast check out the biggest egg hunt in Derby!

Back to the fight against fat!  Like a fat kid in dodgeball… I’m out!

Keep your eyes on the prize and not the fries!

This week taught me that it is so important to keep your goals in front of you at all times.  When you are determined to get healthy and have the accountability of a team and trainers to hold you to it, you can do it!  I actually find myself not wanting the foods I used to crave.  With the low glycemic foods, my cravings have decreased and I don’t find myself getting hungry.  So keep your eyes on the prize and not the fries!

I can’t wait for our church to see the results of this weeks hard work!

The First Week Was Great!

Even though the first week was hell, we survived and came out on the other side!  I am so proud of our team and I look forward to this week when we work even harder to lose more weight.

We have kind of a love/hate relationship with our trainer.  We hate her when she pushes us, but we love her when we see the results!

Oh the games people play!

Tonight, Ashley – AKA the Punisher – decided we would play some childhood games with a cardio twist.  Needless to say we played Dodgeball and as the biggest kid in the group, I got nailed… ALOT.  We also played “Mother May I” and had a crunch burnout contest.  We wrapped up the night with a walk around the block and cool down stretches.  I am still struggling to limber up.  I’m supposed to go in for a tune up at Massalogy tomorrow.  They say that it will release toxins from my cells and I’m pretty scared of what will come rushing out of my fast food poisoned body.

Good thing I’m preaching on the topic “So You’re Dead… Now What?” this weekend.  When my body gives out, at least I’ll know what’s next!

Ding Ding Round Two

Ok, today was a little better but it is still tough.  I am really looking forward to the part where my body craves exercise.  We were doing stretches and my trainer is limber and I’m lumber.  Pray for my hamstrings… mmmm ham.  Just joking.  See you tomorrow.

Day one was awesome

I really enjoyed day one work out until we actually had to move and sweat!  Wow this process is serious.  I felt my body screaming and all I kept thinking was, never again will I be this fat.  Lord help us!

Where did we go wrong?

I set a goal to read the Bible over the next 90 days while we go through this 90 day Biggest Loser competition and while some people do P90X, I’m doing the B90X!  It struck me in Genesis 3 that the first temptation of Adam and Eve could have been anything… Interesting how the temptation was tied to them eating something they shouldn’t.  Maybe there is a lesson in that for my journey.

I am so pumped up!

I’m the Lead Pastor of Aviator Church and I am super excited about being part of the KSN Biggest Loser.  We started the church 18 months ago and the church has grow very quickly and so has my weight.  If the body is a temple of God, then my body is a mega church!  Now is the time to take action.

My motivations for entering the competition are simple.  I have devoted my life to seeing a city transformed one life at a time.  Now is my time to get help going through a transformation.  My wife and I are also adopting a child from Ukraine and I want to be healthy for my family.

I hope you will follow my journey and pray for our upcoming adoption!

Weight Loss: Keeping the Weight Off

Once you have achieved a desired weight, a positive attitude is very important in your efforts to successfully maintain it. To lose weight permanently, you must make a commitment to gradually adopt a healthier way of life.

Don’t fall back on those unhealthy eating habits you had before you lost weight.

Controlling your weight is not an impossible task. Balancing what you eat with how much you exercise will help you maintain your new weight.
